Chelsea is a sponsored surfer for Vans and Co-founder of Textured Waves. Her new short surf film “Spin Cycle” is a representation of motherhood and surfing and finding the balance. Inspired by her fascination with the slow pace and abundance of laundromats in the Santa Cruz area, she draws parallels between the monotony of waiting for your laundry to wash and a surfers constant longing for the “right” conditions. We see her recovering from devastating knee injury, yet motherhood does not stop and neither do dreams of waves. More obviously is a theme that as a mom, laundry piles are never ending which can feel like you’re spinning your wheels. We are always waiting for something to start and end or even perfection, but nothing is ever perfect and maybe thats okay. The music chosen is by friend Chris Staples and pefectly sets the mood lyrically and instrumentally.
