”As you get older, it becomes more difficult to take trips with friends who have growing families. We tried to stay intentional and keep that tradition alive by including the families on the trip. It may be slightly tougher, but it’s more rewarding in the end than just doing it solo. The goal of this trip was to test out a new surfboard I’d been shaping, which became the centerpiece for most of the surfing done by the three of us. It is a belly-channeled twin fin that worked well around the South Island. The surfboard is called the Fangorn Twin, named after the Fangorn Forest. Coincidentally, the Fangorn Forest film location from Lord of the Rings can actually be found on the South Island of New Zealand. It was worth the visit.”
